1. Know the type of car you want to buy/sell: This is very important. In business, you cannot sell or buy what you don’t know. Therefore to avoid being misled or cheated, research on the type of car you want to buy or sell before entering the car market. Find out the car model, color, manufacture date, fuel consumption, seating capacity, and more.

2. Market Value of the car: It’s always important to find out the market value of the car you want to buy or sell before making a decision. This helps you to come up with the best price to buy or sell your car without being cheated. Different car sellers or buyers have different prices therefore you need to have some negotiation skills. We always offer our clients advice on market values of the car at no fee.

3. Know the car dealer: Before dealing with any person or company to sell or buy a car, find out about them. You can do this by visiting their office premises, visiting Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to find out whether the company is a registered taxpayer, if its a personal car you can still check with URA to find out if the car is registered in the seller’s names. Avoid dealing with a stranger on the streets.

4. Do not pay cash or receive cash when buying or selling a car respectively. Always ensure that you pay through the bank or receive money using the bank. It should be noted than conmen always fear using banks when doing cheating games.

5. Go with someone you trust to sell or buy a car in Uganda. This is for your own safety and an independent consultation in case you need one.
